I created 40 portraits of my grandparents and 25 drawings that connected the portraits. I referenced the portraits from photos. I only had a limited amount of photos, as I lost many in the 2013 flood. My grandparents mean the world to me and I wanted to incorporate more emotion into my work. Unfornutaly I have two grandparents alive and they have been having a difficult time, as my grandpa has many forms of cancer and my grandma is doing everything she can to help my grandpa. I wanted to create an artwork that cheered them up. while also showing how much I love them! Some of the photos of Nanny and Papa, my other grandparents, are from a calendar my aunt made in honour of them, as they both have passed away. I wanted to create artwork for my Nanny and Papa to honour, cherish, and also show my love for them! For the 25 drawings, I wanted to connect my grandparents to Saskatchewan, because my grandparents are all from Saskatchewan.
The portraits of my grandma Caroline and nanny Edna are on 18" by 24" newsprint paper.
The portraits of my grandpa John and papa Fred are on 18" by 24" newsprint paper that has been cut in half.
The second archive drawings are on 18 by 24" sketchbook paper and newsprint paper.
